Description

This Cast Iron Skillet Pizza is the perfect choice for a quick dinner or comfort food. With its delicious crust, melted mozzarella, and savory toppings, it promises a delightful meal made easily at home!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz. pizza dough, at room temp.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese, grated
  • ¼ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ cup marinara sauce
  • 1 ¾ cups mozzarella cheese, whole milk/low moisture
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 14 slices pepperoni
  • ¼ cup sliced onions and peppers

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 475° F, allowing it to warm for 30 minutes for best results.
  2. If using 1 lb. of dough, set aside 1/4 lb. as 12 oz. is ideal for this recipe.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough into a 14-inch circle. Grease a 12-inch cast iron skillet with nonstick spray, then transfer the dough and form a crust by pressing it halfway up the sides.
  4. Brush 1 tablespoon of olive oil over the top, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and oregano. Poke holes in the dough with a fork to vent air and reduce bubbling.
  5. Place the skillet on the lower oven rack and bake for 5 minutes. Remove and dab excess oil, flattening the crust onto the skillet.
  6. Spread marinara sauce, followed by cheese and desired toppings.
  7. Return to the lower rack and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
  8. Take out and brush the crust with melted butter. Move to the upper rack and bake for another 3 minutes. Broil at 425° F for 1 minute, keeping a close eye on it.
  9. Allow the pizza to rest in the skillet for 3-5 minutes. Tilt the skillet and use a spatula to transfer the pizza to a cutting board. Slice and serve!

Notes

Ensure the oven is fully preheated for the crispier crust.
Feel free to customize toppings according to your preference!
Letting the pizza cool slightly before slicing enhances the texture.
