- 1 teaspoon oil
- 1 teaspoon salt, adjust to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon carom seeds (ajwain), optional
- 1/2 to 3/4 cup water, or add as required
- oil , for deep frying, about 2 cups
Instructions
- In a large bowl, place the whole wheat flour. Add salt, carom seeds, and oil.
- Gradually add water while mixing with your hands, ensuring not to add all at once.
- Once a dough forms, stop adding water and knead until smooth. The dough should be stiff and tight for optimal poori.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth or plastic wrap and let it rest for 5 minutes.
Notes
Ensure the dough is not overly soft for best frying results.
Resting the dough for a longer time can lead to oily pooris.
