Description

Savory Ham and Cheese Puff Pastry Tarts offer an irresistible flavor with simple prep. Perfect for a quick dinner or delightful comfort food. They feature flaky pastry, rich ham, and melty havarti cheese, making them a must-try!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (optional)
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 13 ounce thawed puff pastry dough
  • 8 slices thinly sliced deli ham
  • 1 heaping cup of havarti cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Whisk together the egg and water in a small bowl until frothy.
  2. In another bowl, mix mayonnaise, dijon mustard, salt, and pepper to create the sauce.
  3. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper. Slice the puff pastry vertically down the center, then make three horizontal cuts to form eight rectangles. Transfer the pastry to the sheet, spacing them apart, and prick the centers with a fork, leaving a 1-inch border untouched.
  4. Place a slice of ham on each pastry rectangle, spread some dijon mustard sauce over it, and sprinkle with cheese. Fold the corners of the pastry up over the filling.
  5. Brush the folded edges with the egg wash and bake for 17-20 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Allow to cool for five minutes before serving. Optionally, garnish with chopped parsley or chives.

Notes

Use a quality deli ham for best flavor.
You can substitute havarti cheese with another cheese like gouda or cheddar if desired.
For a spicier kick, consider adding a dash of hot sauce to the sauce mixture.
