Description

This tender beef and broccoli slow cooker dish promises an explosion of flavor with simple prep. With juicy flank steak, vibrant broccoli, and a savory sauce, it’s a quick and satisfying option for dinner that everyone will love.


Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lb flank steak or stewing beef, sliced thin
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup beef stock
  • ¼ cup soy-free stir-fry style sauce or worcestershire-based substitute
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornflour (cornstarch)
  • 10 oz broccoli florets
  • cooked rice or noodles
  • sesame seeds


Instructions

  1. Add the sliced beef, diced onion, minced garlic, beef stock, sauce, and brown sugar to the slow cooker.
  2. Gently stir to combine all the ingredients.
  3. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 5–6 hours until the beef becomes tender.
  4. In a small bowl, mix cornflour with 2 tablespoons of cold water to create a slurry.
  5. Stir the slurry into the slow cooker to thicken the sauce.
  6. During the last 30 minutes of cooking, add the broccoli florets. Cover and continue cooking until the broccoli is tender yet vibrant.
  7. Taste the dish and adjust any seasonings as needed.
  8. Serve hot over rice or noodles.

Notes

Feel free to use your favorite type of beef for this dish.
Ensure the broccoli is added towards the end for the best texture.
Garnish with sesame seeds for an added crunch.
