Description

This Viral Doner Kebab is a delightful blend of ground lamb, garlic, and spices, all wrapped in parchment for easy baking. Perfect for a quick, savory meal!

Ingredients

Scale
  • lbs ground lamb or mutton
  • 1 small onion finely grated
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the ground lamb (or mutton), grated onion, minced garlic, olive oil, salt, paprika, cumin, oregano, and black pepper until well combined and slightly sticky.
  3. Transfer the meat mixture to a clean sheet of parchment paper and shape it into a rough rectangle. Place another sheet of parchment on top and roll it out to a thin rectangle, about ¼ inch thick.
  4. Peel off the top sheet of parchment, then roll the meat tightly into a log shape using the bottom sheet to guide you. Place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes or until the meat is cooked through. Reserve the juices from the baking sheet, set aside.
  6. Using a sharp knife, slice or tear the meat into doner-style pieces. Spread them out on the baking sheet and drizzle the reserved juices over the top.
  7. Broil for 5-8 minutes, turning the pieces once or twice until they are crispy and golden. Keep a close eye to avoid overcooking. Serve immediately.

Notes

For added flavor, marinate the meat mixture for a couple of hours before cooking.
Serve with pita bread and your favorite sauces and toppings like lettuce, tomatoes, and yogurt.
