Description

This shrimp cocktail combines succulent shrimp with a tangy cocktail sauce for a delicious appetizer. Perfect for any gathering, it’s quick and easy to prepare!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, deveined, tail-on
  • 6 cups water
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black peppercorns
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons horseradish
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

Instructions

  1. Bring the water, lemon slices, salt, and black peppercorns to a boil in a large pot.
  2. Add the shrimp and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, or until they turn pink and are just cooked through.
  3. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the shrimp to a bowl of ice water and let them chill for a few minutes to stop the cooking process.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, and minced garlic.
  5. Drain the shrimp well and then refrigerate until fully chilled.
  6. Serve the chilled shrimp with the prepared cocktail sauce.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add herbs like dill or parsley to the cocktail sauce.
Make sure to chill the shrimp thoroughly for a refreshing taste.
Feel free to adjust the horseradish to your preferred spice level.
